A Week in the Life of a Full Time RVer, Part 2

By Raymond Laubert

This is my third article on full-time RV living. In this article I am going to cover those chores that we tend to do once every 6 months or so. Some of these are seasonal items.

A Week in the Life of a Full Time RVer – Part 1

By Raymond Laubert

Living in an RV full-time is not so different from living in an apartment, until you get to the chores. Most of the chores only take a few minutes to complete or can be hired out to your local RV Repairman. Weekly chores are basically the same as anyplace you live. You have to do some cleaning every now and then. Our 39 ft RV takes my wife about 30-45 minutes to clean front to back, including running the vacuum. If we wipe down the wood work, it might take an hour. So daily cleaning is a lot less work than an apartment or house.

This is not the usual travel article we feature here.

However when I received this in an email I felt compelled to share it with you.

I  emigrated to Australia over 40 years ago –

On the  ship there were Poms, Italians, Germans, Yugoslavs, Czechs and Greeks,  (Note – All European people!!) all looking forward  to starting a new life in Australia.

I arrived  with $42 in my pocket and that’s all I had to my name.

Did I put my hand out??

Keeping your tent clean will increase the life of the tent, not to mention the aesthetic appearance. Cleaning your tent can be a fairly easy job with the right tools. Let’s take a look at maintaining your camping tent for maximum longevity.

The first step to cleaning your tent is to setup in a place where you have access to electricity and low pressure water.

Step 1. Light Cleaning

Tools needed: A shop vacuum, Brush head accessory, and extension cord.

Here you are!

You waited with great anticipation for this moment – Holidays are here!
There it is – your motorhome. Fully equipped, beds are made, a breakfast basket on the little table by the window, the tank is full and you are ready to go.

You probably have some questions when you handle a large vehicle for the first time. The change from driving a car to “piloting” a Motorhome requires some special attention and concentration. Always obey rules and regulation and use common sense.

Fox Vs Franz Josef Glaciers in the South Island, New Zealand

Fox Glacier- The town of Fox has some great character. In the town, at night, you can walk through a small trail to see the glow-worms. Not far away you can ride a bike to beautiful Mattheson Lake. You could take a great overnight walk to Welcome Flat Hut on the Copeland Track. You can do two nights and continue on to the next hut on the track

I am a deeply spiritual person, but I am certainly not a religious person.

With that in mind one of my most memorable stays was at the Buddhist Temple just out of Bundanoon in New South Wales.
Bundanoon the town is on a side road approximately 30 kilometres from the Hume Highway roughly 120 kilometres from Sydney.

I heard about this particular temple from a friend. I was aware of other temples up the coast but this place was ideal for my plans to head to Melbourne. It turned out to be ideal for more reasons than one. When I phoned there to find out what was required of me to stay there I was very pleasantly surprised.

Deciding on a family road trip can be a daunting challenge, not to mention an exercise in patience. However if you prepare ahead of time, the trip can be one of the most memorable experiences of your family’s life.

Here are some quick and easy tips for making your family road trip a fun and safe one.

First, prepare a checklist of items you will need. This will include first aid kit, food, snacks, drinks, and lots of toys, coloring books, paper and crayons, a portable DVD player so your kids can watch their favorite movies; and a cooler. A good idea is to ask the kids what games they would like to take, within limits of course.

A Number Of Reasons To Ponder Using A Solar Panel System When Camping
By Lori Finney

Camping is a great hobby for several individuals. Plus, retiring people sometimes decide to live full-time within a recreational vehicle (RV). Regardless whether camping out or perhaps residing full-time in an RV, one question which may emerge is whether to install RV solar panels or maybe run a Yamaha generator to supply electric.

Solar panels work most efficiently whenever pointed southward having a lot of exposure toward sun and very little shade. Therefore, parking underneath trees or perhaps behind a mountain will limit how many amperes are produced. For this reason, if planning on camping where there will be very little sun, then think about buying a generator to create electricity.
