Australia Day is celebrated on the 26 of January and is our official National day.
It is the date we commemorate the arrival of the first fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788.
Australia Day is a public holiday in every state and territory of Australia.
Each year our nation celebrates the achievement and contribution of eminent Australians through the Australian of the Year Awards by profiling leading citizens who are role models for us all.The award is presented in Canberra on the day before Australia day the 25th Jan.
Citizenship ceremonies are held in some towns & cities. These are ceremonies to welcome immigrants to the country who have been granted Australian citizenship.
Community festivals, concerts, fireworks… the day is celebrated in large and small communities and cities around the nation. Australia Day has become the biggest annual civic event in Australia.
The great thing about Australia Day is that it’s our day to do what we please, whether you’re into the local thong throwing contests, welcoming new citizens into our country or lazing about listening to some of Australia’s best musical talent.
HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY … have a great day.
